Gilbert Ward Pupils Shine at Wanderers Athletics Event

The pupils from Gilbert Ward Academy demonstrated outstanding athletic ability and determination at the Wanderers Annual Athletics Event, held at Monkton Stadium on Wednesday. Competing in challenging weather conditions, the pupils rose to the occasion, showcasing both individual talent and strong team spirit across a wide range of track and field events.

The annual event brought together young athletes from across the region, offering them the opportunity to test their skills in a competitive, yet supportive environment. Despite the heat, Gilbert Ward pupils delivered impressive performances in events, including the triple jump, long jump, sot put, and track races over 100m, 200m, and 400m distances.

The staff accompanying the pupils praised their resilience and enthusiasm throughout the day. Competing in high temperatures required not only physical endurance, but also careful pacing and focus, all of which the pupils handled with maturity and determination.
