Gilbert Ward Academy Athletics Success

The pupils from Gilbert Ward Academy made a memorable debut at their first-ever athletics event held at Monkton Stadium in Jarrow. Competing in an array of track and field events, the pupils demonstrated not only remarkable talent, but also outstanding sportsmanship by cheering each other on throughout the day.

Their efforts paid off in spectacular fashion, with athletes securing top four finishes in 13 events and proudly bringing home an impressive total of 12 medals.

Year 9 pupil, Taylor, said: "A highlight of the day was getting first place in the ball throw and setting the record."
