School Closure

Return to Announcements
17th Apr 2026

As previously communicated, school is closed on Monday 20 April due to a scheduled staff training day. This will go ahead as normal. We had expected to welcome pupils back on Tuesday 21 April. However, during the Easter break, extensive work has taken place in school following the flood and this has identified more significant lasting damage to parts of the downstairs area than had originally been understood.

As a result, the downstairs classrooms are currently unusable and are likely to remain unavailable until the end of the summer term. Therefore we now need additional time to put appropriate contingency arrangements in place to enable us to reopen safely as quickly as possible. School will therefore also be closed to pupils on Tuesday 21 April.

On Monday and Tuesday, staff will be in school finalising the contingency plan and making the practical preparations needed for pupils to return. At this stage, we expect there to be a staggered start from Wednesday 22 April although it is very likely provision next week will involve a more limited offer than usual to allow pupils to be familiarised with these new temporary arrangements.

We understand that this is disappointing news but it is really important that our focus is on putting in place the best possible plan so that pupils can return as quickly as possible and with the right support in place.

Please also be assured that we have made the strongest possible representations to all of the relevant organisations to understand why this problem occurred again and to ensure that it is never repeated.

We will provide a further update by the end of Monday 20 April with more details about arrangements for the rest of next week.

Thank you for your understanding and continued support.

Kind Regards

Chris Richardson
