Maths is a core subject that helps pupils develop their logical thinking, problem-solving and reasoning skills. Pupils study number, algebra, geometry, measure, statistics, and probability, and learn to apply their mathematical knowledge and skills to various situations. Pupils also learn to use appropriate tools and methods, such as mental arithmetic, written methods, calculators, and ICT. Pupils are assessed on their fluency, reasoning, and problem-solving skills at each key stage.
