Religious Studies (Foundation Subject)

Return to Subjects

Religious studies is a subject that helps pupils develop their knowledge and understanding of different religions and worldviews, as well as their own beliefs and values. Pupils learn about the beliefs, teachings, practices, sources of authority and forms of expression of various religious traditions, such as Christianity, Islam, Hinduism, Buddhism, Judaism and Sikhism. Pupils also learn about the similarities and differences between religions, the impact of religion on individuals and society, the challenges of living in a pluralistic society, and the ethical issues that arise from religion. Pupils are assessed on their factual recall, comprehension, analysis, and evaluation skills in religious studies at each key stage.
